Becoming Trustworthy to God

TRUST-worthy

I think for the most part it’s common to believe about oneself that you can be trusted by other people. I don’t often hear people say, “don’t tell me your secrets, I can’t keep it.” And I very seldom hear, “don’t tell me what happened,” or “I can’t be trusted,” when someone has the details everyone wants to know or is about to share something of depth. We have a common belief that we should have the privilege to know. We have a common belief that we are worthy of trust.

This is the tangible human instance of trust. And further yet, it doesn’t stop there. Trust encompasses many different aspects that require diligence on our own part. Know thyself. Are you trustworthy?

More importantly, what I want to talk about, are you trustworthy to God?

Worthy of God’s Trust

We spend our lives learning to lean on Him, trust Him, and know He will always take care of us. He is faithful. He is good. He is overwhelmingly and altogether worthy of our awe. We know this.

We spend so much time pursuing our God and finding out what it is we can trust Him with. Do you give Him your finances? Your future? Your desires? To you trust Him with your job? With your ministry? What have you placed in Him is the question we always ask. Some of us are better than others of us with this.

There is a song I love called “Lord Holy God” by Calvin D Davis and the lyrics say:

“I will trust you until you can trust me too”

This was the first time I had asked myself… how much can God trust ME? I’d like to challenge you to ask what trust He has been able to place in you. How much is our wholesome, holy, awesome God able to trust you? You are, after all, son or daughter of the Most High. As a father trusts his son to do tasks around the house and do well in school and treat women well as he grows up and starts dating, do you not suppose our God would have things He hopes He can trust us to do?

For starters, does not the Ten Commandments outline our good God’s expectations for our experience here on Earth? Crushing, if you put your trust in those instead of Him to obtain salvation, that’s not ever the goal. But following the commandments is freeing if you understand that He provides us with these expectations to guide our paths and keep it straight and show us how to walk in love for one another, and ultimately love for Him.

You see, when we have the courage to take on what God asks of us we have the power to let Him work in our lives. He gives us more. Inside of our willingness He sees our devotion, our commitment, our love.

He blesses us with assignments.

He reminds us you are anointed.

You are highly favored.

Our God has plans for you, Jeremiah says so!

And if you understand the amount of glory He deserves, you know that He has plans for you to do HIS work. You are His hands and feet on Earth. He has plans for you to reap HIS harvest. For you to lead HIS children to Him. For you to love HIS sons and daughters well.

Our God will always desire a relationship with His children. He will always draw you near to Him should you be willing to seek Him (Isaiah seek and knock).

How many of the doors that God has opened for you did you walk through? How much of what He has asked of you have you said yes to?

I believe there is a correlation between what you have already done for Him and what He trusts you to further do.

When our God blesses us with work and we complete it, His test is passed. He has completed something in us through it. He has moved us with it and changed our heart. He has used us well for His Kingdom.

He delights to trust you! What if it was true that when you do His will, He knows you are capable of more? What if your willingness spurs His next plan for you?

Did you hold the door open for someone? Pick something up an elderly woman dropped for her? Amazing. Did you buy a homeless person his next meal? Did you include the person sitting alone? Incredible. Did you offer your time to serve at church this week? Did you volunteer at an event recently? Love it. Have you done a mission trip? Have you pursued a call on your life? Hallelujah! Truly, God has so much He can ask, and the hope is that our ears are inclined to hear what is next for us for Him.

What more are you willing to accept from God? He may have been waiting for you to make that move so He knows He can give you more! Now that you have said yes by walking through the door, pray for the next to open before you. Tell God of your willingness!

(Do not be afraid when things get hard just before you walk into something bigger… the enemy will come at you to prevent God’s will, AND/OR God may need to purge some things before you’re ready.)

Allow Him to assign you. Allow Him to request your work. Be open to yes. Our God can do mighty things through those who love Him. I know that is you.
